FAQ & Troubleshooting

General

Do I need an account? No. Every tool on BriefBlip works without signing in.

Is BriefBlip free? Yes, all three tools are free today.

Meeting blips

My audio file won't upload. Check it's under 100 MB and one of: mp3, wav, ogg, oga, m4a, mp4, flac, webm, aac. Anything else (or anything larger) is rejected before it's sent.

Can I record a live call directly in BriefBlip? No — BriefBlip doesn't access your microphone. Record the call with whatever tool you already use (Zoom, Teams, your phone), then upload the recording or paste the transcript.

The action items have the wrong owner, or say "Speaker 1" instead of a name. BriefBlip only knows what the transcript tells it. If a name is never spoken or written near where the task was assigned, it falls back to whatever speaker label the source used.

Doc & URL blips

"This URL could not be fetched." BriefBlip can only reach public web pages. Pages behind a login, on an internal network, or blocked by the site's own protections can't be fetched.

A key point doesn't have a quote under it. Not every point in a brief maps to one exact sentence in the source — when that happens, BriefBlip leaves the quote out rather than inventing one.

Weekly briefs

I signed up but never got the confirmation email. Check spam first. If it's genuinely missing, sign up again with the same address — this sends a fresh confirmation link rather than a broken one.

I clicked an old confirmation link and it says "not valid." That happens if the link was already used, or if it belongs to a different signup than the one you're trying to confirm. Signing up again fixes it.

How do I unsubscribe? Use the unsubscribe link in any issue you received — it's instant, no login needed.

These docs don't cover every edge case on purpose — see Building against the API if you want the exact technical behavior, including error codes and rate limits.
